Is it really a "driver shortage" or "we don't want to pay drivers a living wage or allow them to have dignity and oops no one wants to be a driver for some reason" like in the US?

Is it the pay or the organization of the work?

Can you pay people enough for the hassle of not sleeping in your own bed most weeks? Or can you organize a system where trucks are driven in shifts but face delays changing drivers?


Pretend you're 17 and are deciding on a career. Ignore this year's wages. What do you think about the prospects for drivers in the next forty years?

It's an interesting idea but why don't they just use the already existing rail lines?
