Interesting to see Zoom essentially rebrand again. Felt like during the covid era they were angling more for an all-in-one remote work platform with calendaring, hot-desk features for hybrid workplaces, etc - guess that didn't work out so well!
Got super lucky with zoom. Bought their stock on ipo and sold at the height once I felt like that was all they could offer at the time. Seems logical they are fighting to stay relevant.
This move screams like a last minute desperation to stay relevant with the latest buzzword jargon, which that is "AI". Surely, we are at the peak of this AI hype cycle.
If everyone including your local supermarkets are becoming "AI company", then effectively no-one is an AI company and it instead becomes meaningless.
There is a ton of them now, especially on the more consumer "body double" side. I remember a few years back there was Beulr on Shark Tank doing bots for remote students so they could sleep through their classes...
I am working on an API for devs to build Zoom agents currently, so definitely banking on this being the future! https://www.agentstation.ai/
